Join feature layer with excel table date

Question

I'm trying to join feature layer with data from excel. When I get feature layer in the page and try to create relationship of feature layer with excel data, feature layer is grayed out and message shows 'Dataset incompatible with current selection'.

Issue is with the feature layer, if I access feature service i can create map but cant join with tables. however when i access feature layer in the card, i can join in the relationships with other tables but then layer contains NO DATA.

Could you share more details on the common field in the Excel file and the feature layer and where this layer is hosted? Has the feature layer been published to your portal?
