Updating Maxrecordcount

Question

I have been attempting to update the definition of a hosted feature layer using the admin menu update feature definition option but  have not been successful. I have used the update definition many times before for other purposes that work, but when i change the maxrecordcount from 1000 to 2000 I get the message saying it was successful but the count doesn't actually change it is still 1000, should i be doing something else to do this? Update,

i went one step back and clicked edit from the main layer page

I attempted this below as well as coping the entire json and just changing that line, both yeild the error seen below

we use version 10.6

Does the picture below capture what you meant?

i made an attempt but getting this error. I wasn't sure if ArcGIS Server Administrator was a completly seperate application

Hello Najeeb,

What version of ArcGIS Server are you on?

Could you update MaxRecord by editing the hosted service instead?

From ArcGIS Server Administrator Directory > browse to the hosted feature service > edit from the bottom of the page > search for the MaxRecord in the json page and update MaxRecord.
