GIS Server--Internet server for 9.1

I keep getting a "bad syntax request" message each time I try to connect to http://services.arcgisonline.com/arcgis/services‌ in ArcCatalog 9.1. Is this service only available in 10.X?

9.1 is no longer supported, so no surprise you might get errors. I understand some organizations can't for various reasons, upgrade, but it is recommended.
