Geoform and Date Picker Issue

I created a GeoForm using a feature class and was also able to make it available on Collector for offline use with my base map. Everything works seamlessly, with both online data and Collector data very well synchronized. However, my date is set to be 1969/12/31 by default on the GeoForm (Collector gives me an option to choose "Today", but GeoForm doesn't). I noticed on the Github that date picker had some bugs in the past. Is it resolved now, or is there an easy fix?

My form has similar issues, except it defaults to this:

I have seen geoform examples where the date defaults to the current one.

Could anyone please enlighten us on how to set the default date either on the form or in ArcMap?
