Creating a thematic map

How can I create a thematic (color coded) map using data that is ALREADY in the map in Community Analyst?  I know I can do this using the color-coded map tab and then choose new variables but what about applying the color coding on variables that are already in my map?

Have you imported your own polygon data via shapefile?  Some clarification on what data is already in the map would help.

Hi Heather,

I am afraid I don't understand what you are asking.  What do you mean by data already on the map?  Are you referring to web maps you access from ArcGIS Online?
