Can tasks be converted to python scripts?

Just had a question from someone. Can esriTask files be converted to Python and if not will this be possible in the future?

In short: 'No'.

Tasks in ArcGIS Pro are designed for interactive workflows.

• A step in a task can call a geoprocessing tool \ model \ script.
• Tasks and Geoprocessing tools compliment each other.
• Unlike GP models, a step in a task can also call any command \ Add-in.
• Tasks are interactive, where Geoprocessing and Add-ins can be used for automation
• Tasks are designed to improve efficiency, promote best practices and guide new users.
