Trying to perform analysis in Portal for ArcGIS 10.4 map view, keep getting this error message.

I ran into the same problem--I was able to fix it on my end, but I'm not exactly sure why it fixed it. I'll explain what I did--you might look into it as well.
When I originally federated my Portal, I didn't have a web adaptor configured with ArcGIS Server. So when federating, I used port 6443 for both the Services URL and the Administration URL. Setup this way, I watched Fiddler while running an analysis task in Portal. Looking at the input parameters for the SubmitJob task in Fiddler, all of the services are being called and created over ports 6443 and 6080. I don't know that this is inherently wrong or not, it just struck me as abnormal.
I installed a web adaptor for ArcGIS Server (separate from the Portal web adaptor, which is required), and un-federated and re-federated, using the web adaptor URL for the Services URL. After doing this, Analysis worked successfully.

I did Jake. I was successful with every step.
Just tried to perform another analysis so that you can see exactly what I'm talking about.
We're getting a 500 error every time we run a tool against one of our 3 federated servers. I've been working with Technical support on it for about a week. Just wanted to chime in and say you're not the only one having issues with Analysis Tools.
Thanks Jacob. I hope for a solution soon. After all I went through to get the Portal 10.4 up an running, I'm anxious for my users to experience the Spatial Analysis functionality.
I'm still stuck on this problem. Doesn't anyone know what it means or better still have a solution? I will really appreciate any help offered.

Some few questions.
1. Is Server Installed on a non-English Machine?
2. What happens when you execute the Analysis with the option to "Use current map extent" unchecked? Try using a fresh dataset for this test.
3. If the answer to 1 is yes, do you have a machine with an english OS to test with?
4. What do you see in the ArcGIS Server logs after you execute the Analysis?

Thanks Lara. The uploaded screen shot is difficult to see even when downloaded. Can you upload a new one with a slightly higher resolution. Also, kindly give Matthew's suggestion a try if the scenario applies.

I have been contemplating whether or not to try Matthew's suggestion, that's why I haven't replied to him yet. It took me a while to get my server federated and everything except the Analysis is working and I'm too afraid to meddle with it.

Yes, that makes sense. The environment I was using was a brand new test environment, where it was OK to break things. There have been cases where there are problems re-federating after un-federating. I'd suggest doing a system-wide backup before trying this.

I finally summoned up the courage to try out your suggestion. It worked!!! and just like you, I'm not absolutely sure why the server web adaptor made the difference. The most important thing right now is that Spatial Analysis on Portal works like a charm! Thank you so much for your suggestion. I can now move on to other issues. My work is never done.

I'm facing the same problem to run spatial analysis in Portal or ArcGIS 10.4. I went trough the documentation is it was fine. I can publish hosted service, is federated using webadaptor context. Just Spatial Analysis in Portal doesn't work. The message is {"messageCode": "AO_100105", "message": "CalculateDensity failed."}

Were you able to find a solution to this issue? I'm facing the same problem where the CalculateDensity analysis will return "CalculateDensity Failed" with almost no other information. It also has the message code AO_100105.
I turned the logs on to debug and did not see anything of use. Basically just the traffic of creating the service, updating the service, and then deleting the service. Couldn't find any sort of errors or explanation why the analysis was failing
The strange thing is that I can get most of the other analysis tools to work it is just CalculateDensity that has been giving us trouble
This error is because of insufficient license level of ArcGIS Server. This tool using Spatial Analyst capabilities and so the ArcGIS Server Advanced license neededIt will be great if esri will inform about such errors by more informative messages)
Our customer encountered with the same problem. The answer of Esri support was following.
As you have mentioned that the customer has a Standard license of ArcGIS for Server, this appears to be a known behavior. It has been reported as a defect with the following information:
BUG-000096375: Performing analysis fails in Portal for ArcGIS while using the Interpolate Points tool in the Analyze Patterns toolset when ArcGIS for Server is authorized with a Standard (Enterprise) license. BUG-000100371: It should be documented that the ArcGIS Spatial Analyst for Server extension is required to perform analysis tasks in Portal for ArcGIS.
