How do I alter the config file to make bing or open street map one of my base maps?

Open street map is not supported yet, for Bing add following line in your <basemaps> section of config.xml file

            <mapservice label="bing"    type="bing" visible="false" alpha="1" culture="en-US" style="road"
                        key ="<your bing maps key>"/>
