It appears that we only have the ability to traverse lines in Pro 2.0. It would be extremely helpful to be able to traverse a polygon. Is there another tool I'm perhaps missing?
is the polygon perimeter (line) not sufficient?
Unfortunately no. I need to be able to traverse a polygon. This functionality was available in ArcMap.
It didn't even get a mention on this list unavailable tools in Pro unless I am blind, it is elsewhere, or it was forgotten
Well the tool itself is in Pro, but now it is specific to polylines only.
The ability to traverse a polygon layer will be added in a future release.
Thanks Sean
Sean,
I posted about COGO polygons for easements and other areas that require legal descriptions. Do you know when this will be released? This is pretty crucial for small local governments that track their utility, right of way, and pathway easements such as the city I currently work for. The sooner we are able to test this out and see the functionality the better it will be for us to train the other GIS individuals of our city.
Here is the link to my question and concern. https://community.esri.com/ideas/13861-add-full-cogo-functionality-to-arcgis-pro
Hi Matthew,
Polygon traverse will be available post 2.1
The construct polygons command will be available at 2.1, meaning features can be traversed as lines then converted to polygons as required.
Thank you for the update. Looking forward to the update.
Does this include Ground to Grid correction as well? If you see the picture in this reply, you can see the reason for Ground to Grid.
Without the ability to correct the grid for Traverse Polygons there, this functionality is extremely limited. See additional concerns in this post:

This is critical for the work I do also. I can't go to Pro until I can use the Traverse tool for Polygons. Having to use a line tool, then trace the polygon is not reasonable.
This is still absent in 2.1.2. Maybe 2.2? Awaiting my early adopter approval to see.
Ricky,
After you create a Traverse, you can use the Create polygon tool from that Traverse.
Open the Construct Polygons
You can select the traverse (that closes) using the Select Tool.
Select the layer you want the feature in.
Click construct Polygon at the bottom of the tool pane, and viola! you have a new polygon in that layer.
See the link below for more information.

Hi Sean,
What is the update on the traverse polygon? I need the polygon functionality for my work.Thank you.
No Voila! It's kind of dumb to have to have a dummy polyline layer to construct a traverse and then copy/construct it into the layer you want. How about they just make the trav tool work like the one over in Desktop. Creating unwanted data in order to create the data you desire.. what a waste of time and effort... Still not fixed as of 2.3.1 as far as I can determine...
Here we are in 2.3.1 and this functionality is still not available as far as I can tell... ???
Is there any sort of status update from ESRI on if they are are going to give the ability to traverse a polygon in Pro? I work for a city government and I traverse subdivisions, easements, parcel, deeds, etc. As mentioned by other people it seems like a waste of time to have to traverse a line and then convert it into a polygon.
I work for a small City and was disappointed v2.4 does not have the polygon traverse tool. Just attended UC2019 and am making an effort to start using PRO. However, I agree with previous posts that creating a traverse from polyline & converting to polygon is just extra work! Please add this capability!
I also work for a small city and desperately need the polygon traverse tool in Pro. I do almost everything in Pro now, but for certain tasks like this one I have to open ArcMap, load the layers I need to work on, complete my task, and then go back to Pro to finish my project. Such a pain!
Alyssia,
You can use the COGO tools to enter the linework. Select the linework and use Construct Polygons. It will take the linework and create a polygon from the linework.
With ArcGIS Pro 2.7 you can use the traverse tool to enter a polygon.
Just pick the polygon feature template.

Does this mean it isn't available in version 2.6.3? Because that would make me feel a lot better about why I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong the past 2 days.
