I created a simple map in ArcGIS Online viewer. I added a layer from our AGS and then went to re-symbolise but the 'change symbols' window is not available when I click the arrow. Is this something to do with the type of AGS service I'm using?Apologies in advance - I'm brand new to most of this so may have missed a step.
The Change Symbol option is not available for layers based on ArcGIS Server because the symbology is defined by the map that the service is created from. Thanks,Mike
Can someone please explain to me why this is nowhere to be found in any documentation? I've been banging my head on this one for quite some time. If there is a note in documentation, can someone point it out?
Can I disable editing...change symbols...and then enable editing again? Or is this not possible since I will be breaking the feature template published with the service?
Thanks Aimee,
For more information about changing symbology on specific services, check out the following documentation.http://doc.arcgis.com/en/arcgis-online/create-maps/change-symbols.htm
Kelly, thanks for supplying the AGOL resource link.
I was just struggling with this topic and stumbled upon another gotcha ... thought I'd pitch in my $0.02. When publishing a map service, make sure you enable "Allow per request modification of layer order and symbology". This can be found in Service Editor -> Capabilities -> Mapping.
