Can't import a single point in AGX from CSV

Importing a CSV file with a single point fails with a error message:

Failed to publish csv:
24305: The polygon input is not valid because the ring does not have enough distinct points. Each ring of a polygon must contain at least three distinct points.

The silverlight plugin will crash too. My file is simply a header row and a single row of attributes. I want to import a simple point into a map to use as a reference and then add different map documents into a mashup. Each reference layer has will have unique information in the pop-ups rather than a common set of attributes.

A file with a single record should work OK - for example, I can import the following data that has a header row and then a single row of attributes, into a new layer with a single point:
Title,Address,City,State,Zip
Esri Headquarters,380 New York Street,Redlands,CA,92373

Can you tell us what the specific data you're trying to import is, or post a sample file that fails?

Each reference layer has will have unique information in the pop-ups rather than a common set of attributes.

This sounds like you're after something more like the Map Notes layers that currently exist - I'm afraid there's currently no way to import a dataset and create this type of layer - perhaps you can post your idea on http://ideas.arcgis.com?
