Portal, named users, edit features

Question

Just starting to set up portal behiind our company firewall.   We get 50 named users.

we have thousands of employees.    I need emergency response maps that have editable attributes.   Ie. Show that a house has been evacuated, add comments and/or upload a picture.

Do the members in the field, using apps or web apps need to be named users?

Hey Mike,

The sign in model for Collector will rely on the named users for your internal Portal environment. Field workers you will want to access web maps will need to sign in prior to browsing the available maps to collect emergency response data.

While Jayanta's solution is a possible scenario, users will still need to have a login to the portal (on-site Portal or ArcGIS Online) where the web map is stored and shared with everyone. This workflow will give everyone the ability to access your web map (even those that you do not want to), but you can use the separate ArcGIS for Server security model to restrict access to the emergency response services that will be edited.

Hi Mike,

For the users (other than named users) to access and edit the data in application, you need to give the app public access.

Also you have to share all the corresponding services with everyone (Map, feature access, etc. whichever is applicable).

Caution: In this case, anyone with the URL of the application, would be able to manipulate it.

Alternative solution:

Create another Server with separate ArcGIS Server architecture (NO PORTAL). Use token based security for the services. You can create as many users/publishers as you desire. Keep the common Geodatabase in both Server architecture and Portal architecture. Thus the changes made in one, would get reflected in the other scenario as well.
