Currently I have Arcmap 10.1 on my laptop and I want to reactivate my arcgis account by downloading and installing the most current version of ArcMap. Is it required to uninstall 10.1 to then install the most current version.

states that you do not need to explicitly uninstall 10.1 or above prior to installing 10.5
