I feel like I'm being gaslighted! I provide GIS support in my organization and starting around March of this year ('26) users began reaching out, telling me that their projects were suddenly corrupt… that maps and layouts were gone. We quickly discovered that they had simply been automatically 'closed' upon exit from the project; that they could be located in the Catalog Pane and re-opened. All of our searches for a documented change to the software indicated that this was always the way Pro worked.
Before these support calls began, I had never personally experienced Maps and Layouts closing in this manner. I could save and close an .aprx with 5 map tabs open, and they would all be open the next time I launched the project.
When did this change?
