Add a native 3D Slope Measurement tool to scene viewer, instant apps 3D viewer and experience builder that allows users to measure the slope between two points on 3D surfaces and point clouds.
Many organizations use ArcGIS Online Scene Viewer to inspect terrain, road grades, roofs and other infrastructure. While Scene Viewer provides distance and area measurements, it does not provide a simple way to measure the slope between two user-selected points. The elevation profile tool is great for visualizing elevation surfaces, but the slope output is of limited value because the surface elevations are averaged over the entire profile and the tool does not work with point clouds.
This forces users to perform manual calculations or use external software to determine terrain grade or roof pitch.
Common use cases include:
- Measuring roof pitch for inspections
- Determining ADA ramp compliance
- Evaluating road grades
- Measuring terrain slopes
- Planning utility installations
- Inspecting infrastructure in point clouds
- Assessing drainage and grading
