Category Selectors cause dashboard to freeze/crash after June 2026 update

Question

After the June 2026 ArcGIS Online update, dashboards that we have built that include Category selectors with multiple zoom targets under Actions cause the dashboard to crash after making a selection.

Additional Details:

- The offending widget(s) are Category Selectors, with categories from Grouped Values

- Under Actions, When selection changes, it is set to Filter 24 targets, and Zoom to 3 targets (the zoom to multiple targets is what's now causing it to break). See screenshot below.

- The dashboard uses stacked groups for a "multi-page" look, which is why there are so many filter targets and 3 different web maps (one on each "page")

- All of this worked beautifully before the June 2026 update!

- Yes, I could remove the Zoom action as a workaround since the Category selector seems to function without it, but that doesn't seem like an acceptable long-term solution, given it's not an unreasonable ask and it worked fine before the update.

I will create a support ticket and reference this post, but hoping this improves visibility and others can share if they are experiencing similar behaviors.

@MatthijsAlberts it's a little reassuring at least to hear that someone else experienced the same behavior. I still feel pretty confident it's a bug somewhere on Esri's side, but like I said, my specific support case couldn't go anywhere because we couldn't reproduce the results on other machines.

Same issue here. Dashboards crashes when there are multiple maps with the zoom to function on both or more maps.

When I removed all, except one, zoom to function on the category selectors the dashboards won't freeze anymore. But the map still won't zoom to the feature. I read the suggestion the manually zoom in and out will reactivate the zoom function doesn't work. Pan still works.

For the zoom function on multiple maps it is possible to configure a map action on one map and set extent to the other map(s).

@Adrian I worked with Esri support but unfortunately, I couldn't get the behavior to replicate on anyone else's machine so the case has been dismissed. I looked at trace files from my dev console and could tell that it was basically getting into an infinite loop with the zoom extents since I had multiple maps, all with their extents tied to each other (this was an important UI request, to have all map views synced at all times). And like I said, it worked fine before the update so it's not an unreasonable functionality to configure.

I'm absolutely baffled why it wouldn't replicate on other machines though, most of which were much lower spec than my work machine. I did driver updates, restarts, clearing caches, etc. My IT department was stumped as well, given the specs of my machine.
