Create Features Template Visible on Attribute Only View Layer

I have a view layer set only to update attributes and geometry with "Add" and "Delete" capabilities disabled. However in my web map I am still presented with the option to configure Create Feature Templates and in the end user experience builder members of my organization are able to make features from these layers. Normally when a layer is set to update only the option to configure templates disappears from Map Viewer.

Not sure if this is related, but this reminds me of something I ran into recently where I created an experience builder and had certain layers in the web map have editing disabled, but when I viewed the ExB it still showed them in the editor widget. This was because I'm an admin and so even with editing disabled, I still had edit privileges. Once I viewed the ExB in an incognito browser, it displayed as expected (no option to edit the layers with editing disabled).

Could it be a similar permissions related scenario?

Hi Katie,

Thank you that does seem to be the case for my Experience Builder as well. However, I've noticed different behavior across my update-only layers. On one layer, map viewer only shows the option to configure a form, but the layer screenshotted above still has the option to configure a template. I'm not sure which behavior is correct/intended or what causes the difference but luckily to the end user it all looks the same on EB.

Hi @g_maps,

As a layer owner or admin, you will see the option to create templates - regardless of the editing settings on the layer. This can be handy if you want to take time to create templates before making the layer editable.

Similarly, you have permissions that allow you to perform any edits - regardless of the editing settings on the layer.

However, the editing settings you configured should restrict what other users (who are not a layer owner or administrator) can do.
