I would like to clarify a question regarding performance when using large polygon datasets in ArcGIS for Power BI.
We are using the ArcGIS connector in Power BI to visualize geographic data composed of state and municipality boundaries, which results in a dataset with a relatively large number of polygons. During use, we noticed that the map becomes quite slow when zooming or navigating, with noticeable delays while the polygons load.
Because of this behavior, I would like to understand:
- Is ArcGIS for Power BI known to have performance limitations when working with large polygon layers?
- Are there recommended best practices for improving performance when the dataset contains many complex geometries, such as municipal boundaries?
- Is there any recommended optimization approach, such as geometry generalization or other strategies?
