I am surprised this is not possible, but it seems one cannot group <all other values> with one or more particular values, in Symbology.
Idea: allow grouping the <all other values> with a value or values in the layer.
Reason: let's say we have Hydrants and a FlowTested_ThisYear field. with a Yes and No for domain values. I want to show them red and green to show users what remains to be done. (yes it's color blind safe)
I use the Label and put the text 'No' in the <All other values> Label; as well as the value No which is just No. I give them both a red dot, indicating a No and they still need testing.
What happens is either I have two 'No' entries with the same red dot, or I don't show <all other values>. BUT, then the points are not visible on the map! If All Other Values are not shown. So, the kludge workaround is having a duplicate No (by just putting the text 'No' in the Label for <all other values>) It works, but looks silly.
Would seem like a universal thing to want to have particularly for maps that feed a service for a viewer or dashboard?
I also always wished it was possible for Arc to automatically add new UNIQUE symbols or colors (randomly chose or maybe even preset logic, for example with domains if present) on the fly as users enter new attributes. So new values would begin to appear on the list under the layer name for symbology on the layer, but on the fly. As it stands if you have a custom symbol for a particular attribute; your new points will NOT BE VISIBLE if they don't exactly match symbology; or until I go in and manually update the symbology and republish. Which seems kind of weird that it has not been a thing from the dawn of REST services in the late 90s. Am I missing something, for either of these ideas? I can't see anything from a search or from clicking around.
