Updating Data on AGOL

Question

Hello,

I have built a very basic map purely on AGOL with a couple hosted feature layers. I'm hoping to transfer the whole map over to my partner and have them update it on their own, but am running into an issue where when I try to update or overwrite the layer, it doesn't find an Object ID to match. I looked on Esri's page and am only finding instructions for updating via Pro... is it impossible to keep the entire process on AGOL?

Also, my longer term goal is to have it where anyone can update a feature on the CSV/Google Sheet, and it will auto-update the map. I am finding it to be more challenging than I initially thought, and would appreciate any ideas! Thank you 🙂

I think I have this same problem?  There's no fields to match when you reach the prompt screen? I only have <none> and FID, neither of which will work (or should work). It's not seeing the fields form either they layer or the update excel file?

ObjectID is never the best to use when trying to update information as it can change. When updating, create a unique id that exists in both datasets so you can easily match one to the other and it'll be persistent

You might also look into setting up a Survey123 survey for your partner to add data.

I have not tried it, but apparently you can update a hosted feature layer from Google Sheets:
