In many UI's its commonplace to identify items in menu's where the value has changed from the default values. For example, in a well known slicer software, if a user alters the value in a box in menu, the menu heading/subheading becomes orange/bolded making it easier to find where a change was made. When the user saves, the bold persists, but the text color returns to the standard. I believe this would be helpful in complex dialogues where people iteratively change settings to arrive at the result they want like Labelling Properties.
