Ability to add collection point by clicking on the map.

Add the ability to create a collection point by clicking or tapping the map. My office will soon be switching from collector to field maps, and the field workers don't like the method of dragging the cross hair and selecting Add Point. It would improve their workflow by being able to tap the map to add the point since they are creating polygons with multiple points. Thanks!

Hi Mike,

Using Field Maps is actually quite simple... once your GNSS receiver is paired and your ready to collect a point, you simply hit the blue crosshair circle located in the lower right corner of Field Maps and it reflects to the location you have your receiver pointed to.

Once you hit the blue crosshair collection button, you can pan around the map to change the collection point, but that is not an ideal method for collection as you're not getting any accuracy.

For usage practicality, navigating the map takes the place of clicking and tapping. I hope this makes sense.

I would also double check the setting below and make sure it is correct. For this, under 'Collecting New Features,' make sure you have 'Center the map and add a point at your location' selected. You may have the second option selected and that may be causing your issue.

I appreciate your response but it unfortunately doesn't apply in this case.

The field workers in my office collect agricultural land use data for a local government. They don't rely on using a GNSS receiver except in certain situations where they have access to the land. The majority of the time the workers park on the side of the road and view the field from a distance and use aerial imagery.

For example:

A land owner removes a large row of trees in order to plant crops. The field worker documents the change by creating a polygon. That polygon can be simple with four collection points or it could have a couple dozen points. Having to drag the crosshair and select add point can be time consuming compared to having an option of simply touching/clicking the map to add the points.
