Serial chart in Dashboard behavior has changed

Hello,

At some point this summer the serial chart in a dashboard I created has changed from when I built the dashboard. The Serial chart should display the "Top 12 Damage Agents" (out of a couple hundred) in orange if they are a disease, or blue if an insect according to the "Damage Agent Category" (see the image "good dashboard" below). In Data Options I used Grouped values, Category field is Damage Causing Agent, and I split by field "Damage Agent Category" used statistic=count and used 12 as the maximum categories sorted by statistic. 

However, now the maximum categories is missing (so it shows the entire list, not just the 12 with the highest count) and I can no longer sort by count in descending order. They are just all listed alphabetically in a much to long list (see image "bad dashboard" and "Serial chart data options" below). 

Can anybody recommend a way to achieve the desired result?

I've been facing the same issue with my dashboard. I found a workaround that might help you. Instead of using the main table for the serial chart data, try creating a data expression and use code to filter the top values or categories you need, then use that new table to create the serial chart you want. I'm currently trying to implement this, but my code isn't connecting to my organization's portal. However, in theory, this should work for you. Apologies for the delayed response.
