Change coded domain for by ref web layer

Question

I found  few posts about this without final answer.

I published a layer from database (not hosted) that has field with coded value domain.

I would like to change that domain (add, delete, update a value).

What should I do in order to see the new domain in the web layer (in update, identify etc.)

Currently I can see the domain hard coded into the rest info after the publish.

I know I can republish but it does not make sense to republish all the layers that uses this domain if I only need to add a new value.

Yes I understand your workflow as I have done this before as well. It just isn't possible how you want it. Overwrite the layers you do need that value for.

Take for example some common domain - department list

I can use this domain in many layers in many services. If I add a value I have to republish many layers - there should be a way to update this domain values in a service without republish

You could always just republish it for the layer that does need that new domain value or overwrite the layer. You don't have to do it for every layer that uses that domain.
