Cutting out a section inside of a polygon

Question

Im trying to cut out an area inside of a already created polygon. I cant seem to figure out the tool to use. Iv usually used split tool, sketched the4 shape and removed the needed shape. When I use the Split tool now it gives me error "Split Failed. Geometry must intersect polylines and polygons in two or more places."

I simply need to cut out a hole of existing polygon.

select 'edit vertices' then try using the 'continue feature' tool from that tool bar - select it, draw your polygon you want t 'cut out' click finish.. and it removes that part of your polygon.
