Analyze clashes of service pipes in 3D

Question

Is it possible to see clashes/crossing of service pipes in 3D ? Does the software highlights the locations of clashes ? if yes, please explain in detail.

Thanks for your reply Gert. Which version of ArcGIS has this near3D function actually i am using ArcGIS 9.3.1. Is it possible to find the clashes in 9.3.?

Hi Ramesh,

If your pipes are closed multipatches, then yes. You could do a 3D intersect and find the intersection pieces. If your pipes are lines, you could try using near3D.

Also we are working on extending the intersec3D tool to include lines.This will be available in 10.1
