Not able to add the Map Image Layers in Map Viewer Beta for ArcGIS Field Maps

We are working in an ArcGIS Portal 10.8.1 Portal environment, we wanted to add the Map Image Layers in an existing Web Map that will be used through ArcGIS Field Maps Mobile application to collect data. 

In order to collect data, in Field Maps a Smart Form has been configured.

The problem we are facing is that Map Viewer Beta is not allowing the addition of Map Image Layers.

As a second option, when we are trying to add the Map Image Layers in Web Map through Map Viewer Classic and once save the web map, the Field Maps Smart Form gets de-configured. So, to overcome this problem we have to re-configure the Smart Forms which is an overhead.

Is there any resolution to overcome this issue.

Since map image layers are not editable, I am guessing you want to add them as reference layers, try making a base map with them, share the map online and place it in the Basemap Gallery. Then add your custom base map to the web map for collection as the basemap.
