I see that the bug has been fixed (BUG-000162942 for ArcGIS Experience Builder (esri.com)). However, my searches still won't generate an automatic pop-up for me. I have to click on the address bar below the search bar to generate a pop-up. Can anyone confirm if the pop-ups work for you or if this is the fix? Thanks for any help you can provide.
In the Search settings panel, open the Search Result dropdown and select Auto Select The First Result.

There seems to be an inordinate number of boxes to check and channels to set up in random places just so a pop-up is generated, but I now got it working.
