Add a legend

I am consuming tabular data from an API. I am getting JSON format that I process and render as points.

All of that is working fine. I am just struggling with how to create a legend from those created points and add it probably to the web appbuilder legend widget. Is that possible and how. If not what is the best alternative?

I just don't want to have two sets of legends.

If you add the data to the map as a FeatureLayer and specify a renderer for this FeatureLayer then it will be added to the legend automatically.
