Removing Layer

Question

I would like to remove a layer from the content pane. This layer is not shown in the attribute table as I have already selected and created a layer from my selection. In this case the feature shown in the attribute table is sanitary, but I can still see the combined layer in the content pane, please how do I remove the combined layer so that it does not show in the content and in the map legend of the layout?

I have attached a screen shot showing the content pane and attribute table.

Both of these are the same layer. You symbolized the layer with Unique Values of the field SubType. Go to the symbology of the layer and remove the "Combined" entry from the symbol list.
