Visual Difference(Element of Layout) between Different version of ArcMap

Hi all, 

I have noticed there is a slight difference of area of layout element (e.g. a grid / simple polygon) between version 9.x and 10.x. 

I know there is difference between ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro due to the different in Drawing Engine, I am wonder why there is also such difference between different version of ArcMap.

Because 9.2 is very old and ESRI stopped supporting it years ago! They obviously tweaked the UI when they moved to 10.x
