Are you looking for a fun way to celebrate GIS Day? Listed below are a handful of ways you can celebrate the day with friends and family.

  1. 🗺 Map Your Day with a Twist:
    • Instead of just sketching a map of your day, challenge yourself to create a 3D map using everyday objects around you. Get creative and turn your day into a miniature map diorama!

  2. 🎉 Virtual Map Party with a Theme:
    • Add a fun twist to the virtual map party by setting a theme for the maps shared. It could be "Maps that Define Me," where each person shares a map that represents a significant aspect of their life or personality.

  3. 🌐 Geocache Adventure with a Group:
    • Turn the geocaching adventure into a group activity by organizing a mini-treasure hunt with friends or family. Create your own geocaches with personalized clues for a memorable GIS Day experience.

  4. 👩‍💻 GIS-themed Escape Room Challenge:
    • Design an escape room challenge with GIS-related puzzles and clues. Test your friends' map-reading skills and geographic knowledge in a thrilling and interactive game night experience.

  5. 💡 Interactive GIS Trivia Night:
    • Host a virtual trivia night focused on GIS facts and geography-related questions. Engage participants with interactive quizzes and challenges to test their knowledge and spark friendly competition.

  6. 👨‍🎨 Map Art Workshop:
    • Explore the artistic side of mapping by hosting a map art workshop. Create map-inspired artwork using different mediums like watercolors, collage, or digital design. Unleash your creativity and celebrate GIS through art!

  7. 🏞 GIS Day Photo Challenge:
    • Launch a GIS Day photo challenge where participants capture and share photos of interesting maps, geographic features, or GIS technology in their surroundings. Encourage creativity and visual storytelling through images. Bonus points if you create this through Storymaps!

  8. 🌎 Community Mapping Project:
    • Collaborate with local organizations or schools to initiate a community mapping project. Map important landmarks, green spaces, or historical sites to raise awareness about the significance of GIS in urban planning and community development.
