Esri’s 2023 User Conference once again reminded us how the integration of GIS and imagery is essential to creating a better future. Keynote speakers shared examples of how GIS and imagery continue to be instrumental in operations around the world. For instance, PCL Construction paired GIS with weekly drone flights to monitor its part in building the $1.7 billion new St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver.

During the Plenary, GIS and imagery experts shared valuable overviews about foundational imagery concepts and techniques for extracting data to create meaningful, GIS-ready products.

The insight gained from UC this year is a great precursor for what’s next in GIS and imagery: Esri’s massive open online course (MOOC), Imagery in Action, which opens on September 20. This six-week course is jam-packed with opportunities to explore the latest ArcGIS imagery and remote sensing applications and tools. It’s completely free and open to anyone with an ArcGIS account.

Each week includes 2-3 hours of hands-on exercises, videos, quizzes, and polls to explore imagery workflows. You can also connect with Esri subject matter experts and fellow imagery enthusiasts from around the globe in the MOOC discussion forum.

With all that this MOOC has to offer, nearly 10,000 learners (and counting) have already registered. Don't miss all the action, and save your spot today!
