raster fill tool with DEM 30m

I have many sinks on a 30m DEM and am trying to fill the sinks for hydrology analysis.  I keep getting this error.  ERROR 010658: Failure in distributed raster analytics operation.

When I skip the raster fill step and use the flow accumulation tool, the program stalls and will not finish.

Is this because the DEM is not a quality DEM?

Is there a work around?

Typically this error message is seen when one has a "bad" raster.  Check to see if the range starts with 0 as this is not typical and may point to some questionable data in the raster dataset.  Try the workflow on a different DEM, does the error message persist?

the merged rasters do not have a 0.  the range is 1225 to 3860m.  I will attempt the other raster preceduer to find out if my rasters are "bad". thank you Rob

Hi Charles,

Did Fill work with a different DEM? Could you provide some details on the software/product that you are using, and the machine specs such as operative system (Windows 10, or 11, etc.) and number of processors? It would also be helpful to track where the error is happening if you tell me a bit more about how you created the merged raster that you are using as input to Fill.

Thank you,

Hi Tania,

I am also facing the same error problem, running the Cost Distance tool. 1 out 5 times it would work. But per run takes me about 3 hours so that's 12 other hours wasted. What could be done to fix this??

I posted about this 1 month ago. Please help me

Hi,

The issue that you describe has been solved in ArcGIS Pro 2.9.5 and also in ArcGIS Pro 3.0.

If you are using Pro 2.9, please install the ArcGIS Pro 2.9 Patch 5 (2.9.5) or upgrade to ArcGIS Pro 3.0.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue.

Thank you,
Tania

I have the same problem with Fill using Pro 3.2 (python 3.9.16). In my case the script crashed during the 15th iteration. The DEM itself is fine and parametrically identical to the first 14 that worked without any problem. The size of this particular raster is about half of that for one that succeeded.
