Issues with absolute buffered gradient fill symbology when exporting

Since I updated to 3.2.2 I am having trouble consistently exporting maps with absolute buffered gradient fill symbologies and maintaining the absolute width of the buffered gradient.  As far as I can tell, the absolute buffered gradient fill is inversely dependent on the scale of the map (i.e., smaller the scale larger the width of the buffered gradient fill.

Steps I've taken to try and correct the issue:

1. Copied the layers to a new map
2. Added the features to a new map and re-created the symbologies from scratch

Both of the provided examples use the settings pictured below.
