Append is slow when copying data from ArcPro to AGOL

Hello,

I used ArcGIS Pro to append 4,000 points in a File Geodatabase layer to a layer in ArcGIS Online.  The append operation took 48 minutes which seems ridiculous.  I specifically copied data into the Sign Management Solution

Why on earth would it take so long to append data?
