Based on my hunt through prior posts, I think this question has been beaten to death with no real resolution, but I thought I'd throw it out there again anyway in case someone has come up with a clever workaround....

We have a hydrant Feature Layer with a related table (via GDB relationship class). The related table hold records pertaining to when the hydrant was last flushed (a 1:many relationship). We would like the symbol of the hydrant to be determined by the data of the most recent flushing record.

We are not using Server.

Anyone have any luck with a solution to a similar issue?

Thanks!

Just wanted to follow up that we looked at a few things to resolve this....

We did not have access to an ArcGIS Server installation for this.

Option 1: In additional to the related table, we added a field to the hydrant layer for "most recent flushing". Field crew would update this as well, and this allowed up to render recently flushed hydrants with unique symbology.

Option 2: Just bit the bullet and create a new layer of points... new point added for each new "flushing event".

Option 1 was preferable because it was "spatially cleaner".
