I'm trying to make a map on arcGIS Online and have created my vector files that I need for it. I've zipped them and uploaded them. Under the My Content portion of the website I can clearly see that they are uploaded, but when I go to make the map, it says no content available. Any help to solve this issue would be appreciated.

ArcGIS Online is incapable of utilizing and real data files like shapefiles or geodatabases although documentation will lead you to believe that. It can only utilize "services" - so to create services from the shapefiles you uploaded, click on one of them in your contents page to get to the "details" page. you should have a button labeled "Publish" - clicking that will create a "hosted feature layer" which you can then use in a map.

You can then delete the shapefile from AGOL as it is now an unutilized copy of your data eating credits - but that will require some googling on how to do it as it is not straightforward.

If you have ArcGIS Pro it is much easier to publish hosted feature layers from hard data.

You will need to publish the data as a hosted feature service within ArcGIS Online - this will then make it available within the Map Viewer
