Hi -

Apologies in advance. We're new to ArcGIS Monitor and have it up and running for our Enterprise. We've added both the Portal and Server components, and all of our services show up. However, all of our metrics for the services don't appear to be logging any data (e.g. request rates, saturation, response time).... they're all blank.

However, we can access the logs through monitor just fine. And alerts from the "Alerts" table seem to be working.

Are we missing something obvious?

Thanks.

Hi @Michael_Knapp,

We've added both the Portal and Server components, and all of our services show up. However, all of our metrics for the services don't appear to be logging any data

This usually means that the ArcGIS Monitor instance has not been licensed, or your license file has expired. You can check by navigating to the Administration tab > License.

However, in your Request Rate screenshot, it appears that data is being collected by Monitor - there are just no requests trying to access the selected component.

Can you please check the Site Machines Availability (%) and Instances Saturation Percent (%) charts? (I believe you have an ArcGIS Server site component selected).

Hope this helps,

Thanks Derek -

We've verified the license:

and the other server charts:

Hi @Michael_Knapp,

The three charts that are captured in your screenshots are showing data. It just appears that the services/servers are not receiving any requests during the timeframes shown.

If you manually query the REST endpoint of a service on the server in question, you should see the metrics respond as expected. (i.e. you may see a spike in the "Instance Saturation Percent (%)" or "Request Rate (req/s)" metrics. If this does not happen, let us know and we dive a bit deeper into this.

ok, thanks Josh.... I think what I'm figuring out is that our reporting thresholds are set too high. When I lower them, the charts start showing metrics.

Thanks for you time in responding!

Hi @DerekLaw,

In our scenario, the ArcGIS Monitor is encountering challenges in capturing any data from the Windows Hosts. Although the component indicates nominal status, it is not displaying any matrix data. This issue is impacting our ability to gather essential information and monitor the health of our system effectively.

We have initiated a preliminary investigation to identify the root cause of this problem, but we could use your expertise and assistance in resolving it swiftly. If you have any insights or recommendations, please share them at your earliest convenience.

Hi @RanaDas,

Although the component indicates nominal status, it is not displaying any matrix data.

This usually means that the ArcGIS Monitor instance has not been licensed, or your license file has expired. You can check by navigating to the Administration tab > License.

Also try restarting the Discover Observer,

Under the Monitoring tab > select the component > Settings subtab > Observers > click the More ... button for Discover > View observer details > Run Observer

Hope this helps,

Hi @DerekLaw,

Thank you for your response. The licenses are valid with configurations done as per configuration guide available on ESRI site.

We were able to narrow down the issue, it was discovered that the matrics_data partition tables are not getting created. We created a table manually referring the below link and were able to capture the metrics data, but it still seems not all the data is not getting captured.

Let us know how we can fix this issue.

Regards,

Rana

Please contact Esri Tech Support and open an issue. We've fixed a couple of database partition issues in the forthcoming ArcGIS Monitor 2023.3.1 patch, but I'm unsure if yours is the same issue or not.

In the thread you referenced, the Esri Case #03437483 mentioned was resolved with a workaround.

Hope this helps,
