I used the Vector Tile Style Editor to make a version of the Community Basemap with all the labeling removed. I have found it to be useful in a number of situations where the basemap labeling is incorrect, where we want to reduce clutter on the map and when we want only certain features to be labeled. It would be nice if the Living Atlas contained unlabeled variants of the most commonly used basemaps for these situations.
@JeffreyThompson2 we will take this suggestion of supporting label-free maps in the Living Atlas into consideration. Thank you for posting.
As you note, this customization - or any variation to fully or partially remove labels or other features - can be achieved through the Vector Tile Style Editor. You'll own a copy of the style - with edits specific to your needs - in your ArcGIS Online Content and can use it in your maps and apps.
In cases where labeling (or other map content) is incorrect, Esri has a basemap feedback service where we encourage users make notes of what's wrong so it gets reviewed and corrected.
