ArcGIS Pro license issue

I purchased a personal account January of 2021. I am familiar with ArcMap, so I chose to install and use ArcGIS desktop 10.8.x.  I want to begin using ArcGIS Pro, but I have a public account and I am unable to obtain a license file for Pro. Doe anyone have ideas regarding resolving this? Based on some other threads in these forums, it appear that my only resolution may be to create a brand new ESRI account, purchase a new license, and go through the steps to add on the Pro license. is there any other way?

ArcGIS for personal use has a one year licence term. You will need to renew your subscription (with the same user account) to put on another year for your ArcGIS Online organization and licencing.

Some licencing arrangements let you continue to use the desktop licence (no ArcGIS Online or software updates) however I don't appear to have that option with my lapsed personal subscription.
