Dashboard Date Selector When Map Layers Are in a Group

Hi, I'm trying to configure the date selector for multiple target layers. I am finding that if the layer is in a group in the web map being used it does not show as an option in Add Target.  If I move the layer out of the group in the web map then it shows up as a choice.  Is there a way around this as I would prefer to keep my layers grouped in a web map.  Thanks.

Web map layers. The Parks layers for example do not show as an option to select when it's in the group. If I pull a layer out of the group then it shows up in the date selector configuration target list.
