Using the latest version of Survey123 Connect and Mobile app (v2.0), after publishing a new feature service with a new survey, the repeats and attachments of the collected data are not showing up in the Print Current Response under the Individual Response option via the Survey123 website. Previously attachments/photos were being mixed up between the different sections of repeats (this was reported a while ago and supposed to have been fixed in Esri Australia support case H27G264192), however now no repeats or no attachments are showing up in the report, just the main parent table data and some of the attachments, but all repeats and repeat attachments are missing. The data is in the feature service and the repeats can be viewed and attachments in the correct tables and related to the correct parent records, so it is purely as issue with the print Individual Response option. Is this a known issue with the latest version of Survey123 and can it be fixed asap, as it is effecting our ability to print out the information collected which is part of our workflow, and currently the Print Current Response is the only easy way for our users to create reports.

Hi there, There is an issue with the Survey123 Website when using the Print Current Response function especially when the feature service has related tables and photo questions within the repeats. Photo attachment labels are not displaying correctly in the preview, and then in the PDF that is produced many of the photos are not even being added to the report (they are missing under each related/repeat table record). See attached screenshots of missing or incorrectly labelled photos. Attachment 1 = AGOL Webmap – Show Data table – select a record from related/repeat table and then show attachments. Correct number of attachments and correct photo labels displayed. Attachment 2 – Survey123 Website – Print Response Preview – the 3 photo attachments from above are shown in the preview, they are the correct photos, however the labels are not correct. The labels shown match the labels of the photos from the main table attachment questions. Attachment 3 – Printed PDF from Print Response button – the 3 photos from attachment 1 are not shown in the PDF as they should be after the last question from that repeat record, before the next record starts. These photos cannot be found anywhere in report. Note that some photos and attachments do work in the report for some of the image questions, others do not, seems to be hit and miss, the more photo questions and related tables with attachments, the more photos and labels that are mixed up or missing. Following up from the Holistic Testing in December in Melbourne, one of the things we troubleshoot was the use of the begin repeat and minimal appearance, to avoid blank records being created in the repeat table due to the calculation which is pulling the value from the main table. I have tested the alternative way suggested, which was to create the repeat question as yes/no, not a number, and use the relevant = yes, and minimal appearance on begin repeat, however I am still getting a blank record created in all the related tables, with only the calculated value. I have set it up the same as we did on the day of testing, however from memory it worked fine then, but now it is behaving in the same way as if I am using the how many repeats number question. Example below: I created a new asset record with no related entries (answer no to defect question). As you can see from screenshots from AGOL it created 1 entry for every related table with the Asset ID as a value due to the calculation. I am using the most recent version of Survey123 Connect and the App (official version 1.10.43) which is now a later release then the one we used on testing day, not sure if that makes a difference…. any ideas or have I missed something? I have emailed this through to Marika and James also, hoping for a solution for this.

Hi Ismael, I got some more feedback from the user around when the error happens and the text changes to jumbled characters, here was his response: “When I import an image from my photo library into the report from the device, the problem of the jumbled characters keeps happening. I thought that maybe the problem was within the bunch of photos I kept inserting, which were not shot with my phone camera but imported from my PC after editing, so I also tried with images of my photo library which I had shot with my phone camera. The problem happened also with these images. I noticed that the only photos that don’t seem to send the text crazy are the ones taken from within the app, using the camera button, which is something I don’t do much because I like to have a copy of the images in the photo library too.” Not sure if this helps, the error seems to be related to attaching images from the photo library of the device, but works ok when taking them via the app camera.

Thanks Mitchell, That did the trick. Have given all the fields a default value of 0 and working fine. Good to know for future and other Survery123 forms we use, as it wasn't a requirement previously many of them will have nulls where a value will be expected. Phil.

One of our users has an issue with Survey123 (after upgrade app on iOS to 1.9.24) that when they attached an image, the text displayed below the image (image name) is jumbled characters, and then also when close and try to save survey, the menu choices displayed are jumbled. Was working fine on same device prior to 1.9.24. Anyone else seen this? Here is more info from user: “As requested, please find attached screenshots with scrambled text following every image insertion. As you can see not only the text below the image gets scrambled but also the text on the page you get before leaving the app, which could be quite tricky if somebody doesn’t know the app as much as I do. In order to get the text right again, the app needs to be completely closed (i.e. also in the background) and rebooted. Please note that rebooting the phone did not solve the issue for me.”

We have just upgraded to Survey123 v1.9 and re-published a survey. Using the latest version 1.9.24 app also on iPhone/iPad and Android. Previously we used a calculation to total the sum of 8 cost fields: int(${roof_cost})+int(${exterior_cost})+int(${subfloor_cost})+int(${rooms_cost})+int(${doors_cost})+int(${windows_cost})+int(${services_cost})+int(${setting_cost}) This worked perfectly before and has done since version 1.0 of Survey123. Now the calculation does not work, it remains blank in the form when values are entered into the above fields, and if you type a custom value into the total cost field, save draft, close the survey and open again, the custom value does not get saved (which it used to also). Any ideas?

Hi Zhifang, Our company uses Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 7 Enterprise. The PDF print is created using CutePDF Writer (free version). We do not have access to Adobe Standard or Pro for printing to PDF. What PDF writer are you using, maybe it is an issue with CutePDF writer? Phil.

Ok, with the help of ESRI Australia support, I now know that we can zoom in on the location map under the Individual Response formatted view, however the marker does not display in the PDF, but shows in the preview window, see below:

Hi there, The new functionally from the Survey123 website to Print Current Response is fantastic, great work on this update. So good to be able to print individual survey responses to a PDF or out on paper now. One thing however is the Location map is zoomed out too far (too small scale), therefore is somewhat useless in the report. See below example, in our case most assets are all in or around Melbourne, in this case we see the entire of Australia. Is there are way to set the default zoom/scale before printing, I had a play around but couldn't find anything.
