I have a DEM of a glacial moraine the experienced a GLOF. I am trying to calculate the volume of drained water but since the basin is opened, I'm not sure if the surface volume tool will work (since the calculation would, in my understanding, take into consideration the downstream valley which would count as "below" the elevation plane assigned in the tool).
Does anybody have any material or suggestions to be able to isolate the area of interest to the moraine basin and calculate just that area? Could I clip the DEM to the AOI and calculate that way or is there a simpler way that I'm missing?
Attached is an image of the valley, the glacially carved basin in question being the prominent wide lake on the left side of the image.
