Welcome back to Telecom GIS in Five Minutes. Today I want to show you a new experience, leveraging ArcGIS GeoBIM, one of the most anticipated collaborations between Esri and Autodesk. And showcase how it can possibly make your life easier in telecom projects.

We can't deny that Covid did change the world, but it also gave us a chance to revisit how important infrastructures are to all of us, to the society as a whole, and to sustain our businesses so they can run smoothly when they are needed the most.

If we take a look at the most common infrastructure life cycle. In many organizations, different types of data are siloed in disconnected systems. As a project moves through each phase, data may be created and stored in a particular system, but that data isn’t readily available or accessible in the next phase. This results in workflow inefficiencies, data duplication, rework, and higher costs throughout an asset’s lifecycle.

And our goal is to minimize the inefficiencies and information loss, smoothing out that curve. With proper integration, each project phase can leverage and build on earlier data, which creates a clearer and more complete picture of the project as it progresses. So in order to pull all these different software applications and data together to achieve that predictable production, we want to show you, ArcGIS GeoBIM.

ArcGIS GeoBIM delivers an innovative, easy-to-use web-based experience for project teams to explore and collaborate on BIM projects and issues using data from multiple systems in a geospatial context. Architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) teams can easily work with linked data from multiple systems in configurable web apps that simplify the communication and collaboration with teams and stakeholders.

ArcGIS GeoBIM delivers four key benefits.

  1. It lets you put your projects on a map, so you can understand them in context with GIS and BIM data together.
  2. It lets you access project data from a common, intuitive, web-based experience.
  3. It helps you improve collaboration by sharing easy-to-use, purpose-built apps that let stakeholders explore project information and issues, including across your entire portfolio.
  4. It reduces the need for data conversions by letting you access data where it resides.
