I am attempting to implement the Telecommunications Data Model to document the fiber optics network for a small university campus and have a couple of questions since I don't have a telecommunications background.
A lot of our connections are through patch panels. How are input ports and output ports designated? Are input ports the frontside, and output ports the backside? Is it the other way around? Does it matter? Or is it some other arrangement?
Most of our fiber optic runs go through a patch panel and are patched to a transceiver. What object in the model does a transceiver correspond to?
