Connecting pipes and manholes

Okay, so I finally got the Xray to work on the LGIM.  We went out and started locating manholes with our GPS, which imported wuite nicely into the database.  Now I cannot figure out how to connect the manholes together.  Ive created pipes, connected them to the manholes, put the inverts and elevations in, to and from fields are filled out, but they dont seem to actually be connected.

Is there something I need to do different?  I cant assign flow directions or anything.
