We recently upgraded a test environment to Enterprise 11.3 to test the new Experience Builder widgets.  Have any other states or agencies done much testing with the new widgets?  It seems like there are missing features. Here are a few that we have found so far:

1. Date Filtering button to easily apply a single date filter across all of our network / event data layers.  There are date sliders and a filter option but I haven't been able to find a way to apply a single filter input and have it filter across all of the layers like Event Editor does.

2. The data grid editing doesn't seem to be R&H aware. Meaning that there is no way to make an attribute edit and 'apply' it on a date and have the system retire the old vintage of a record and insert a new vintage of a record.  The Event Editor data grid has a 'save' button which pops up a box which asks the user if they want to apply the edits on a date and to retire the old records. This appears to be missing from Experience Builder and from ArcGIS Pro event editing.

There are some other more minor quality of life things that we've noticed but the 2 above are major problems in our workflow.

Hi Michael,

Massachusetts has just started doing some testing in our dev environment and it looks like we also can't edit and apply events in the attribute table. That will definitely be a problem for us when we upgrade our production environment. Have you heard anything from Esri on this?

What I've heard is that they are aware of the issue and have a fix in the works.  I think they are aiming for the 11.5 / 3.5 release.

We just migrated to ArcPro Roads and Highways from ArcMap in Dec. 2024.  The following is a list we have:

At this time, Experience Builder (ExB) Event Editor does not offer equivalent functionality—via widgets or otherwise—to replace several key features found in the deprecated JavaScript 3.x Event Editor. The following are notable gaps:
  • Intersection Referent Offset Location Method: This functionality is not currently available in ExB Event Editor. While there is an understanding that it is planned, there is no documented release timeline.
  • Other Referent Offset Methods (e.g., Reference Post): These are also not supported. It is assumed that any future widget addressing intersection offsets might support general point location offsets as well, but this remains unconfirmed.
  • Locks: Based on a recent RHUG call with Esri, there are no plans to support locks in ExB Event Editor.
  • Reconcile/Post: There is currently no widget available to perform reconcile or post operations, and no official Esri roadmap indicating that these are in development.
  • Edit Session Management (Save/Discard Edits): The deprecated Event Editor allowed users to save or discard edits within a session. This functionality is not available in any current ExB widget.
  • Select by Attribute: While the deprecated Event Editor allowed users to select events by attribute for editing, ExB does not include this in the out-of-the-box Event Editor template. However, there is potential to use other table or attribute filtering widgets to accomplish similar tasks, albeit with more configuration.
  • Bulk Attribute Update: The Web App Builder (WAB) included a bulk attribute update tool, which some customers relied on. WAB is scheduled for deprecation with the ArcGIS Enterprise 12.0 release, and there is currently no equivalent widget in ExB. Esri has documented that this functionality is being considered for a future ExB release.
  • Event Editor Launcher:  The deprecated Event Editor allowed users to launch the application with predefined configuration settings—for example, opening at a specific map extent or launching directly into the Add Point Event or Add Line Event window with a route already selected.  I raised a question during a previous RHUG call about whether similar functionality would be supported in the Experience Builder (ExB) Event Editor. At the time, the response indicated that it was planned; however, I have not seen any official documentation or further updates confirming this feature.

Additionally, network edits made in ArcMap are not migrated when transitioning to ArcGIS Pro. This results in a loss of historical network edit information, which impacts external event management and the functionality of tools like Relocate Events. These tools will only apply to network edits conducted in the ArcGIS Pro environment moving forward.
It’s important to note that Reconcile and Save/Discard Edits functionality does not fall under the Roads & Highways product team. These would likely need to be developed by another Esri product team if they are to be included in ExB.

ESRI's response is usually all this funcitonality is available in ArcGIS Pro Location Referencing extension.
