The Annual Esri Railroad GIS Summit ("RailSummit") is scheduled for 4-5 November 2025, hosted at Union Pacific Railroad offices in Omaha, Nebraska. The agenda for that event is being pulled together now, but we would like to hear from you, if there are topics you would like to discuss, or present, or would like Esri to arrange.

Registration to attend is now open!!

Here is the web site you can use if you would like to attend.

Here is a short list of topics we are thinking about, so it would be good if you could let us know if we're on the right track here, or if there are topics missing from this list:

POSSIBLE TOPIC IDEAS

LIDAR

Linear Referencing

Field Mobility

Migration from Geometric Network to Utility Network

Track Charts (straight line diagrams, schematic mapping)

Real-time GIS and live data streams

Artificial Intelligence (AI, or GeoAI)

ArcGIS Railroads Data Model

Migration from ArcMap to ArcGIS Pro

GIS and Enterprise Asset Management

...what else would like us to cover or for all of us to discuss?  Feel free to use the comments below.

Linear referencing might be interesting as would track charts.

As additional ideas, I would suggest including:

  • GIS for real-time crowd monitoring in stations

  • GIS-based field inspection for MRT/LRT pedestrian pathways

  • BIM + ArcGIS Indoors integration for station design and operations

  • Real-time IoT solutions for MRT/LRT asset management and safety

These could nicely complement the existing agenda items like Real-time GIS, AI/GeoAI, and Enterprise Asset Management.

@AKRRMapGuy   Sounds great, we've got that, thanks!

@FarahNadhilah1  Those sounds interesting.  Are any of these topics you would like to present on?  If not, I'll see if we can find anyone with that experience who can present.  Typically, the Rail Summit is mainly focused on freight railroads, but it would be interesting to hear about issues important to passenger rail (transit, commuter).

If still looking, our Praedico team would be happy to share our predictive rail maintenance platform and how we can use existing and future measurement data to increase network availability and decrease maintenance spend.
