Question for ESRI

I came across the following ESRI blog article and got excited seeing the mention of Shiny apps. I really like doing data analysis and then creating a front end customizable web app interface using R Shiny. With these new enhancements from ESRI, is it possible to publish or host from R studio an R Shiny app to AGOL just like any other ESRI web app?

Hi there, so glad to hear you are interested in the new R package enhancements that facilitate using Calcite design components in your Shiny apps. While it's not possible to publish an R Shiny app directly to ArcGIS Online, you can host the app externally and then create an "Application" item in AGOL that points to the app's URL. This creates an AGOL item that references your externally hosted Shiny app, which can then be shared with your organization or groups (or displayed in a Hub, etc), similar to your other AGOL apps.

Martha, thank you for the quick response, this workaround can work.
